Critics have been consistent in blasting state economic development efforts over their lack of transparency. That cloud may be lifted during the federal corruptions trial against Dr. Alain Kaloyeros, which begins today in Manhattan. "We're going to get real insight into decision-making, how involved the governor's office was, all those kinds of things," said Ken Lovett, Albany Bureau Chief for the New York Daily News. As the former head of SUNY's Polytechnic Institute, Kaloyeros is widely credited with crafting many of Gov. Andrew Cuomo's economic programs, including the Buffalo Billion initiative, "I should stress the governor has not been implicated in any wrong doing," Lovett said during a morning conversation with WBFO.
